Election season is definitely in the air. Once again, we will be hearing a slew of promises and mudslinging among politicians who aspire to take over the White House. Democrats and Republicans flood their bets for primaries. One of them is Senator Bernie Sanders who is known for his progressive stance on healthcare, taxation inequality, LGBT rights and climate change.

Who is Bernie Sanders?
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bernard “Bernie” Sanders is an independent Junior Senator from the state of Vermont. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving independent Senator in the history of Congress. Back in his early years, he was active in defending civil rights and racial equality. He started his political career as a mayor of Burlington in 1968 and eventually elected to represent the congressional district of Vermont in 1990 for 16 years. In 2006, he was elected as senator up to present.

In April 30, 2015, Sanders announced his bid for presidency seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party going against Lincoln Chafee, Lawrence Lessig, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb and the current United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

The main question remains. Will Bernie Sanders make a good president? Here are 10 reasons why he can bring America back to glory.
He is not working with Super PAC or Political Action Committee. This is an organization that gathers donations and contributions from its members. This liberates him from owing these people and be pressured to make decisions in favor of them when he wins. Sander’s source of income are from personal and individual donations reaching over $26 million.
He is a man of values. Unlike other presidential aspirants who claim that they are pro-family but does not have a concrete platforms to support such claim, Sanders is an avid supporter of Family Act that grants all workers in the United States with 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. This is something that not all workers are able to avail.
He is a man of concrete, political experience. His experience from being a mayor of Burlington and his decades of public service as a member of congress opened Sander’s eyes to the actual situation of the country. He was also assigned to be the head of various committees such as Budget, Environment, Health, Labor and Pension where he passed resolutions that favors the American people.
He is pro-environment. Sanders was a constant advocate of climate change prevention and preserving this planet to be habitable to future generations. As a committee head on Environment, he spearheaded policies that promotes environmental sustainability and preservation.
He is Pro-Israel. Sanders believes that America should support building Israel again but U.S. must also be critical when they are violating policies. He certainly has the making of a president with a best approach in terms of foreign policy.
He is pro tax reforms. Throughout his tenure as a legislator, Sanders fought hard to cut taxes and opposed policies that will increase the burden of his constituents. He was the man behind the Bush Era Tax Rates that eventually was passed into a law running after huge tax evading corporations and cutting taxes of the working sector.
He has a clean slate. Senator Sanders has not been involved in any moral or personal issues. This means that his political rivals cannot find issues and use them against him because there’s none.
He is for the people. Sanders is known to be the hero of middle and low class citizens. He vows to promote reforms and tax cuts that will benefit the poor and bring America a step closer to equality and fairness.
He is not a fan of mud swinging and dirty tactics. You will never hear Sanders dwelling on personal attacks against his rivals. He does not involve himself on filthy tactics just to boost his chances of winning. Instead, he is more focused in conveying his plans and political platforms to earn the votes of the public.
He has always embodied the virtue of a true American hero. He does not need to wear fancy suits and possess super powers to be called a hero. With his unparalleled track record in public service, he has already proven that he is the modern day hero that America needs.
It will be an up-“Hill” (no pun intended) battle for this great senator to win the nomination of the Democratic Party. It will even be a harder battle facing the Republican candidate in next year’s election. However, Bernie Sanders is ready to make a selfless sacrifice by offering himself to be the next president of the United States of America.
