I Know It’s Painful! But You Need To Read The Camera’s Manual

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Reading a camera’s operating manual is about as much fun as reading the legal mumbo jumbo we are forced to read when signing up or buying anything today. This type of reading is guaranteed to put a person to sleep in a matter of minutes. So far I have never read the legal mumbo jumbo and everything seems to be going well. Dudes in black suits could arrive at my doorstep any minute! However there is no way to get out of reading your camera’s manual.
photography tips photo
Whenever a new camera is purchased I recommend sitting down, with the camera and manual and going through every button and function until you fully understand the purpose of the button or function. I recommend you do this before taking your first click, because the first time out with a new camera you are going to see Bigfoot and you will for sure screw up the shot unless you read the manual.
Let’s take the photo below for example on the importance of knowing your camera’s functions.
Photograpy Tips photo
This shot requires quite a bit of messing around with the camera’s functions to make it work. I shot this creek click (say that 10 times fast) in shutter priority mode, exposure composition +5, 5 second timer, and with a 25 second exposure. This is a tricky setup! Now add the fact as I was taking this photo I heard a ruckus behind me and saw three young raccoons running down the creek towards me. I had about 10 seconds to go from long exposure mode to raccoon shooting mode, (read your manual to find out more about raccoon mode) before the raccoons were on the bridge I was shooting from and not more than 15 feet away. Raccoon shooting mode is way different than long expose, creek click mode. The raccoons, and I thought this was quite rude, didn’t stay on the bridge for very long to pose. I did a great job getting the camera into raccoon shooting mode all except for removing the ND filter on my lens. That is why I am not proudly posting amazing raccoon photos!

Chase at the Biltmore: {1-2}

The model is a long-time friend of mine. We met at my Los Angeles home club (a “home club” is where a stripper has worked for a long period of time—she may travel to dance, or work at other clubs, but a “home club” is her staple). I had a ton of friends at the club, but only a few I hung out with outside (not including photo shoots), and Chase was/is one of them. She’s a nut, but a lovable one. Chase is my go-to Halloween partner, art show curator, and second photography muse. A friend of hers at the time offered to back a shoot for her portfolio.

He booked a suite at the Biltmore Hotel and paid above my average day rate for the shoot. I was thrilled, but unfortunately, he orchestrated himself into being there when the day came—of course. I don’t usually allow people on my shoots, but she’s kind of a chicken shit in this arena. Once in the suite, I mentioned something about how I work, that I can’t have anyone around, just the model and myself. But since he was footing the whole thing, neither of us really wanted to tell him to piss off. Instead we suggested he go to the bar downstairs, luckily he did. Chase and I drank, took some uppers and listened to music. We were in the artistic zone. I used only one light for almost the whole shoot.

“She wanted film noir”

She wanted film noir, which I was happy to recreate. We were having a blast, and before we knew it, 1:30 a.m. rolled around…he wanted to come up. We weren’t even close to being finished. Panicked, we came up with a plan to put him to sleep. But the only sleeping pills I had on me were Tylenol PM’s, which we soon found out that A) don’t crush easily, and B) do not dissolve well in red wine. He was on his way up, and we were a giggling, nervous mess, trying to get the shit to blend with the wine. It wasn’t, you could totally see it at the bottom of the glass. We met him and the door like a couple of crazy hyena’s, we shoved the glass in his hand and made up a toast

We met him and the door like a couple of crazy hyena’s
—our hope was that he wouldn’t look at the glass for any extended period of time. We did our quick toast (I don’t think he even drank the wine) and I grabbed the glasses and went to the bathroom to wash out the evidence—most of which was still at the bottom. Turns out, we didn’t need it, he was hammered from his hours at the bar, and within minutes, he passed out in a chair in the corner. We shot until 5 a.m.

We shot until 5 a.m.

Me in Las Vegas: {4-6}

These are from a few years back. My boyfriend at the time was on tour. In lieu of missing him, I took a road trip to Vegas with the plan of stripping there; a change of scenery. But I didn’t want to work any of the places I had in the past (honestly, I’ve never had great money luck at the clubs in Vegas, it’s an intense hustle, even for a hustler like me!).

All You Need To Know About Hard Cider

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Brief History

Hard Cider is prepared from the fermented juice of apples. Although any variety of apples can be used but the juice of Cider Apples is heavenly and makes the best hard cider. The beverage is popular among the citizens of United Kingdom. The history of fermenting apples goes back as far as 55 BC when the Romans reached Kent, England and saw the English enjoying this drink. Hard Cider was considered as the Holy Grail among the English and was so sacred to them that they baptized their children with it. Between the 14th and 17th century the around a quarter of the working population in England were paid in cider.
In the 18th century a missionary John Chapman commonly known as Johnny Appleseed – orchard starter takes the brought cider apples to America. He made nurseries of cider apple trees in Ohio River Regions and The Great Lakes. It was a matter of time when a small nursery of cider apples could be spotted in most of the homes.

Making Of Hard Cider

Scratting and Pressing: Cider-makers who believe in producing the best Hard Cider prefer to use cider apples exclusively. With time and experience cider making has become an art, selective breeding is now used to cultivate cider apples to enhance the taste of the final product.
The apples collected from the orchards are scratted and made into pulp or pomace.Electricity has replaced the traditional methods of scratting where it was done by using stones or in traditional cider mills run on horse-power or driven by hand. Layers of cider pulp known as cheeses is transferred in cider press and built into a block. The set of block is then exposed to high temperature till all the juice is drained from the pomace. Before being put into casks or large open containers the juice is strained through a large hair-sieve and left for fermentation.
Fermentation: “Slow and Steady Wins the Taste” is what we can say for Hard Cider. It is believed to taste best if it is allowed to ferment’s slowly. Hence a temperature of 4-16 degrees C (40 – 60 degree F) is considered best for its fermentation. Yeast such as Saccharomyces bayanus is added for fermentation of the beverage or it is left to the natural yeast to do their job.
Just before fermentation can consume all the sugar the juice is racked into new containers leaving the grime at the bottom of the old containers. It is made sure to fill the containers to the brim making sure there is no space for air so that the liquor does not come in contact with acetic bacteria. The remaining sugar in the liquid produces carbon dioxide forming a layer on it and protecting it from air contact. More sugar can be added at this stage specifically for this process. Racking can be repeated if the liquor is found to be cloudy.

Various flavours or fruit purees of fruits such as cranberry, grape, cherry and raspberry are used to make variations. The Hard Cider is ready to drink after three months but for better result it is left to mature in the casks for three years or more to get the flamboyance in the liquor.
Blending and Bottling: Ciders made from different varieties of apples are blended to suit the taste of market. High quality of ciders is made by using the champagne method, which is an expensive process as it requires special bottles, corks and other equipment. People who make cider at home normally use beer bottles for bottling which is economical.

10 Reasons Ted Cruz Will Be A Great President

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Ted Cruz has been performing well in the primaries. His support has been growing with time. If this trend persists, then he might become the next U.S president. However, he will have to beat Trump in the Republican race. If he is successful in this, he will then have to fight it out for the Democrat candidate. To some extent, Cruz poses some qualities that tend to single him out as a potential effective leader of the free world. Here are some of the factors that prove that Ted Cruz will be a great president.
  1. Cruz is well knowledgeable in economics. Most political candidates tend to be equipped with the bare awareness of economics that is often dished out in public universities. Therefore, when placed in real life situations, they perform rather dismally. However, this is not the case for presidential hopeful Ted Cruz. While working at the Federal Trade Commission, Cruz championed some initiatives that were geared at instilling a sense of equality in the marketplace. Through his action, the U.S. Supreme Court established greater freedoms for e-tailers to have a say in government action. It is then apparent that Ted Cruz does pose infinite knowledge in economics.
  2. Ted Cruz understands the dynamics of foreign policy. First, Cruz appreciates the need to defend the American interests in the world. However, he sees the need to ensure that America does not export its politics. Therefore, under his leadership, it can be expected that American politics will not be solely used to determine foreign policy.
  3. Ted Cruz has a wealth of knowledge of the American political system. Ted Cruz has argued nine cases before the Supreme Court. He was able to win five. Such feats work to demonstrate his level of proficiency in the American political system. Given his understanding of the American Constitution, Ted Cruz will most likely ensure that his regime works in awareness of the separation of powers.
  4. Ted Cruz is, by all means, an outsider. He has not been involved in dirty politics. He has also not been present during the perpetration of massive corruption and bureaucracy in the American government. Therefore, he will be injection new blood in the government, which is what Americans desperately need. A new wave of leadership is needed to turn back on the right track.
  5. Cruz is a definite favorite of the Hispanic community. The American president needs to be a unifying factor in the country. Therefore, he needs to source support from various small To this end, Cruz has significant support from the Hispanic community. Ted has Cuban ancestry. To some extent, such a factor may have contributed to his success in the Texas Senate contest.
  6. No other potential candidate for the Republican seat is serious. In the fight for the Republican seat, Cruz faces competition from both Trump and Ben Carson. Both of these candidates lack the seriousness and expertise needed to become an effectiveS presidential candidate. Ben Carson lacks sufficient political knowledge to guide the American government. While he is a skilled surgeon, he best leaves the political sphere to those more accustomed to its pressures. On the other hand, Trump has adopted a negative approach to leadership. He has been bred to know that he is always right in all things. Therefore, woe unto those who choose to provide ideas contrary to his express wishes. Such a mindset is dangerous when placed at the helm of power, which is the American presidency.

Burr Trail, Utah

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

The Burr Trail takes the adventurous traveler into some of Utah’s most beautiful and extraordinary country. Views of the Henry Mountains, the colorfully contorted Waterpocket Fold, red Circle Cliffs, and Long Canyon all await the traveler who wishes to drive this interesting back road. Numerous hikes and side trips are available for those with the time and inclination. John Atlantic Burr was born in 1846 aboard the SS Brooklyn somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. He and his family lived in Salt Lake City, then later moved south and established the town of Burrville, Utah, in 1876. John Burr soon developed a trail to move cattle back and forth between winter and summer ranges and to market. This cattle trail through the rough, nearly impassable country around the Waterpocket Fold, Burr Canyon, and Muley Twist Canyon came to be known as the Burr Trail. Today, the road which connects Bullfrog and Boulder, Utah, and which passes through the painted rock country of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Capitol Reef National Park, and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument land is known as the Burr Trail.

Arches National Park

Arches National Park is a US National Park in eastern Utah. The park is located on the Colorado River 4 miles (6 km) north of Moab, Utah. It is known for containing over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations. The park is located just outside of Moab, Utah, and is 76,679 acres (119.811 sq mi; 31,031 ha; 310.31 km2) in area. Its highest elevation is 5,653 feet (1,723 m) at Elephant Butte, and its lowest elevation is 4,085 feet (1,245 m) at the visitor center. Forty-three arches are known to have collapsed since 1977. The park receives 10 inches (250 mm) of rain a year on average.Administered by the National Park Service, the area was originally named a National Monument on April 12, 1929. It was redesignated as a National Park on November 12, 1971.

The national park lies atop an underground evaporite layer or salt bed, which is the main cause of the formation of the arches, spires, balanced rocks, sandstone fins, and eroded monoliths in the area. This salt bed is thousands of feet thick in places, and was deposited in the Paradox Basin of the Colorado Plateau some 300 million years ago when a sea flowed into the region and eventually evaporated. Over millions of years, the salt bed was covered with debris eroded from the Uncompahgre Uplift to the northeast. During the Early Jurassic (about 210 Ma) desert conditions prevailed in the region and the vast Navajo Sandstone was deposited. An additional sequence of stream laid and windblown sediments, the Entrada Sandstone (about 140 Ma), was deposited on top of the Navajo. Over 5000 feet (1500 m) of younger sediments were deposited and have been mostly eroded away. Remnants of the cover exist in the area including exposures of the Cretaceous Mancos Shale. The arches of the area are developed mostly within the Entrada formation.

Photos from Arches National Park

The weight of this cover caused the salt bed below it to liquefy and thrust up layers of rock into salt domes. The evaporites of the area formed more unusual salt anticlines or linear regions of uplift. Faulting occurred and whole sections of rock subsided into the areas between the domes. In some places, they turned almost on edge. The result of one such 2,500-foot (760 m) displacement, the Moab Fault, is seen from the visitor
