Game of War: Gold

Halliman asks: How can I gain gold if I am not paying to play.

To get the billion power accounts a player must spend money. There is no way around it to achieve this status. Buying pack after pack is necessary to grow super fast.
deep thoughts about game of war photoHowever, gold is still important for the smaller player that is not paying to play. I am in an alliance with a level 18, alliance gift mode. We get a lot of gold. Enough gold that I can easily stay shielded and keep several 3-day shields in reserve. At 22 million in power I am at the bottom of the list in alliance power. My alliance leader chatted with me recently about helping me build faster. Basically he was saying if I didn’t start building faster I was going to get the boot to make room for a larger player. I can understand the alliance’s need to keep growing. So I wasn’t offended. While discussing on alliance chat how I can grow faster one of our larger players made the comment that I should be saving speedups to use during events. In all honesty up to that point I had not really been looking at the events other than to determine if there was the possibility of outlanders in our kingdom. What this player suggested was to take snapshots of the events and start to get a feel of what events I could score well and gain much needed gold. I am a level 20 player and it this point there are long build and research times. As research and building is taking place I have plenty of time to accumulate speedups from gifts and quests. These speedups can be cached for events that will produce lots of gold.

These speedups can be cached for events that will produce lots of gold. After several weeks of taking snapshots of the events it became clear that the kingdom events were the easiest to gain gold. Kingdom events operate on a 24-hour clock and provide the easiest chance to meet objectives and gain the most gold. Be sure to take a long. hard look at overlapping events. This is a good chance to get double the rewards for your efforts. Look at the timing of the events and the goals of each event to determine if you can accomplish two goals at once. Be sure to read the GOW blog about upcoming special events. These special events can have huge payouts. In particular watch training and research events because they often will have large payouts and you will build your power at the same time. When looking at the GOW blog be sure to look for upcoming Dungeon Events. Everyone gets free dark elixir every day. When the dungeon first came available I used the daily ration of dark elixir that day. Now I cache my dark elixir for lucrative dungeon events. Always keep a look out for gold tiles. With a lot of caution a player can rack up some great gold numbers by farming gold tiles. I used the word caution because farming gold tiles can be very competitive. I normally use T1 troops and only the minimum number of troops for gold farming in case an aggressive player tries to bump me off the gold tile. I also make sure to watch the marches and farming. There have been many circumstances where I suddenly get the red screen when gold farming. Make sure to be ready with a fast troop recall to avoid any troubles on the gold tiles. Always keep in mind this is just a game, have fun, and remember Don’t Be An Ahole!
