State of Mobile Gaming Looking Good as Big Name Developers Embrace the Small Screen

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

While consoles might have gotten much of the attention at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, mobile games still made a splash on audiences. With so many AAA titles set for 2016 and reports of new consoles, it seemed as though traditional modes of gaming were set to reassert their dominance over mobile games. However, the opposite is true. This might be the year that mobile and consoles finally learn to get along as marquee publishers are beginning to prepare their own offerings for small screens.
While Nintendo chose to use the E3 conference as a platform to promote its upcoming Zelda title, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it still had some time to showcase its fledgling mobile division. When considering that mobile gaming has ballooned into a multi-billion dollar industry it should come as no surprise that companies such as Nintendo are finally starting to take advantage of the new market. The legendary game company finally entered the mobile world with Miitomo earlier this spring. While the app got off to a good start, the interest of fans quickly began to wane, and fans are more excited about the impending release of Pokemon Go. Miitomo was more of a social networking experiment rather than a proper game, so gamers are understandably pumped for a new, honest-to-goodness Nintendo game for mobile devices.
The augmented reality game promises to allow Pokemaniacs to “catch ’em all” in the real world as specific creatures will “appear” at real-life locations where they can then be battled and caught. It’ll be the second of five apps that Nintendo has planned to release by 2017, and it’ll be available for Android and iOS this July.
Where mobile was once considered the territory of indie developers, big name companies have realized the financial potential and are getting in on the action. Bethesda Softworks, developers of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises, already dipped their toes in the water of the mobile marketplace with the Fallout Shelter app last year. Now the company looks poised to build on that initial success with a collectible card game, Elder Scrolls: Legends, based on the popular fantasy franchise. This mobile installment comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Bethesda remastering its smash hit, Skyrim, for PS4 and Xbox One.
Much like Bethesda, Square Enix has experienced a fair degree of success in the mobile market, success they hope to continue in 2016. Hot off the critical and financial achievements of Hitman GO in 2014, Square Enix is doubling down on its own winning mobile strategy. After five long years, the company is finally releasing a sequel to the 2011 hit, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, with the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (due August 23, 2016). And sure enough, it’ll be accompanied by the first mobile title for the franchise, Deus Ex GO. The mobile game will follow the same formula as the Hitman spinoff, featuring a top-down perspective with simplified graphics and turn-based, puzzle-themed gameplay. While they certainly haven’t given up on consoles—as evidenced by Deus Ex and the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV—Square Enix has definitely renewed its push toward mobile. The company recognizes, like Nintendo, that the mobile market is an excellent way to provide a monetary windfall for big budget console and PC titles.
It would appear as though fewer and fewer titles are being released for traditional consoles without some kind of mobile companion. It’s also looking like the new Spider-Man game for the PS4 will be no exception. Sony’s Spider-Man was another one of the highlights of the trade show with a new look for the current-gen consoles. Marvel has already long made the character available for mobile devices with through the inclusion of the character in fighting gamers and action-adventure RPGs. By providing so many options that appeal to so many different styles of gamers, Marvel is able to greatly expand the visibility of one of its biggest brands. Presence in pop-culture will come in handy as the company prepares for two big investments in the character with both the aforementioned console title and the highly anticipated film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Contrary to what you might have heard, mobile is doing just fine. The devices have a significantly larger user base than consoles, numbering in the billions as opposed to millions, and they appeal to everyone from kids to parents of varying interests, not just gamers. The market is estimated to reach $35 billion in 2016 compared to $28 million for console titles. Much of the reason for this disparity between the two is that there are significantly more mobile developers than there are console developers with thousands of companies creating new games for mobile devices.
To give you an idea, there were an estimated 800,000 games available for mobile devices at the beginning of the year compared to a mere 17,000 available for both consoles and PCs. Helping to flesh out that mobile number is the fact that there are platforms offering tons of games to potential players. Just look at the casino portal for Betfair, which alone has more than 100 available titles for browsers and mobile devices. These feature a variety of slot-reels with themes for just about everything, from sports to movies to superheroes. These multi-game collections provide hundreds upon hundreds of casual options for players looking for a quick game or two. And thats without even getting into the app stores. With so many titles available through so many different platforms in the market place, it’s easy to see why mobile games make up such a large percentage of the market share.
As smart phones continue to become more ubiquitous, the available user base will only keep growing. If anything, the increased interest in console titles will only help as console gamers will look to mobile to further enhance their playing experience. You can see this with Uncharted 4 and the accompanying mobile title, Uncharted: Fortune Hunter. The mobile game actually unlocks certain items on the console version, providing even more incentive for console gamers to play on their mobile devices as well.
Companies like Nintendo aren’t getting into the mobile market because it’s doing poorly—they’re doing it because it’s the best and most efficient way to make money in the gaming industry today. As more big name developers enter the fray, this competition should only serve to help introduce more quality titles such as the Hitman and Deus Ex games. If one thing is clear, it’s that the future is looking mighty bright for mobile gamers.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a game that has the advanced nature of combat play. Coming at a time when various other games have gained a significant hold on the market, the game has the potential of gaining some ground in the market. The unique features in the game that are advancements from its previous versions have the potential of aiding in its positive market performance.

Features of the game

One of the core features of the game is its multiplayer platform. The game has been built primarily on this platform. Users who operate in a multi-user platform are then able to enjoy the game’s features to the fullest extent. However, its single player platform is also quite impressive.
The game is somewhat well balanced. For one, the moment to moment action between the various levels of the game provides the user with a unique experience in being able to immerse themselves in the game. Given the game’s design, the user is placed in an environment where each second of play is critical for survival. One of the features that makes the game increasingly interesting is the fact that the walls, floor and do not provide any form of protection to the user’s character. Unlike in previous games where characters are protected by the walls and floors, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege enables greater input from the user who is compelled to seek additional measures of protection from the enemies. At any one time, the enemies may burst in through the walls. Therefore, there is the risk of being shot through either the walls or the floors.
The use of tactics is critical to survival. The use of sheer brazen power will not suffice in this game. Sound tactics enable users to approach the enemies in a strategic manner. In playing the game, the user is confronted with the reality that there are always two teams, with the user being in one. Most of the levels of play entail one team preventing the other team from gaining access to a location or something of interest. Overall, it makes for an interesting play.

The attacker and defender approaches that are available introduce a new feature in the game. In the previous five versions, the attack and defense features were not as pronounced as compared to this sixth version. In extended the life of the players, it is critical to ensure that the users use their capacity to build reinforcements in and around the walls. The fortification feature is quite interesting as it enables the players to create a safe environment to protect themselves from the opposing teams. Before each session, the user is allocated 30 seconds to fortify the areas that they assume the attackers may employ. The user has the option of fortifying all the areas that seem like potential entryways. In this way, the user can lessen the potential of the attackers using the walls as entryways. The graphics and sound architecture that has been used makes for a highly realistic playing experience.

Graphics

The graphics have been designed in such a manner that augments the quality of play. One of the core distinctive features is the blood spatter after a shooting scene. The designer of the game has ensured that once a character is shot, there is significant blood spatter on the walls. It is then apparent that a bloody event has taken place at that particular scene. What this does is to create a realistic play experience. However, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been unable to achieve much more that its core competition that have been released this year. Most notable is evolve. While the games endeavor to create the maximum user experience plausible, the degree of enabling the user to fit into the scene has yet to meet the set expectations.
Of special attention is the defense mode. In the traditional setting, the expectation is that the attackers are going to use the openings currently present. However, with the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the attackers can use the roof, the walls and even the floor to ensure the success of their mission.

Training

The designers have inculcated ten training missions to enable the user to comprehend the game’s features. However, this training is not comprehensive given that most features have been enabled only for the multi-player platform.
Overall, the game makes for quite an interesting play. However, there is a need for more features for the single player platform. Otherwise, the game has the potential of being a core contender for the most favored action game produced in 2015.

How To Fix Game Of War

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Today marks the 500th straight day I have logged into GOW. In those 500 days GOW has really changed. When I first started playing GOW I was amazed to see a player over 100 million. As of today the largest player in my Kindom of Etumos is 250 billion. There are currently over 150 players over a billion.
I have never spent a dime on GOW. In 500 days of continual playing I am always been researching and building. I am currently at 56 million and level 21.
deep thoughts about game of war photo

Problem

Over the last two months there are a couple of players from the top two alliances in my kingdom that stay at our hive all the time. I am in the 8th largest alliance, so we have several players over a billon. However, the threat of being attacked does not phase these opportunistic, large players that are generally around 2 billion in power. Our bigger players would take a major hit if they retaliated and possibly bring on the full wrath of the top two alliance. If a member of our alliance loses their shield for 5 minutes they are attacked. These two players must sit and watch our hive constantly. Amazing they have nothing better to do than sit and wait for shields to drop and then they pounce.
For about two week the top two alliances where tile hitting everyone. Our alliance leaders prohibited us from farming. My theory was that if watched my troops farming that I would have plenty of time to recall them before I was attacked. However, the attacking players were porting next to my farmers and were attacking before I could recall them even though I was watching them farm. Amazing.
So in theory I had to be shielded all the time and could not farm. I was beginning to wonder what was left for me to do in GOW.

How To Fix GOW

In reality I think it is time for the GOW folks to divide the kingdoms based on size. I think all players over 1 billion should be in their own kingdoms and only compete against other 1 billon in power kingdoms during KVKs. A kingdom filled with billion power players would give the guys that want to spend thousands of dollars on GOW a real challenge. What challenge is if for a billion power player to attack me at 56 million. That is like shooting ducks in barrel.
tts-products-Be-Passionate-Mens-black-tshirttts-products-Overachieve-Blur-tshirt

Click HERE to visit the TTS store filled with original products!

I think the next division should be at 100 million in power. Players from 100 million in power to 999.9 million in power would be competing against each other.
The lowest division would be from 0 to 99.9 million in power.
With this three-division system players would be competing against players similar in size, which would force players to change their strategy and work together more effectively.
GOW is all about making money. I argue that players evenly matched would spent more money on the game to get an edge on their competitors. GOW would win and so would their hoards of players.
To make this transition into three divisions I would give a month’s notice to all players to give them a chance to form alliances filled with players their size. That way when players are realigned in their respective divisions they are already in alliances for protection.

New Strategy

Luckily the constant tile hitting stopped, so I now can farm again.
Several of the players in my alliance stopped making troops. Honestly if your under 100 million it doesn’t make sense to make anymore troops than you need to farm. You are too small to not be shielded. Even if you found some weaker prey, unshielded you would quickly become the hunted in a matter of minutes. Under 100 million you are way too small to participate in KVKs.
The smaller players in my alliance have stopped making more than 250,000 troops. It takes 250,000 troops to use resource shields and it should leave a player plenty of troops to fill their five marches if they are level 21. Troops eat food and players needs food to continue building.
All good in theory, but in reality I will remain shielded at all times and hope like hell I don’t get tile popped while farming.
When it was still possible to remain unshielded, several months ago for our kingdom, I was constantly trying to build hospitals to heal my troops if I got attacked.  If I am shielded all the time what is the point of hospitals?  I have started eliminating hospitals and replacing them with more silver production. Silver is essential in higher level research.

In the last 500 days GOW has changed dramatically.  The change of strategy is what makes the game fun and challenging.  Personally I get a real kick out of playing the game without spending money.  Sure I will never claim the wonder, but I guarantee you I will make 1,000 straight days of logging in.

Always keep in mind this is just a game, have fun, and remember Don’t Be An A-Hole!

Star Wars: Battlefront – An Aesthetically Pleasing Game

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Star Wars video games have fueled the dreams of many players around the world. Most of the video games have been based directly on movies. Star Wars video games have been a part of the earliest gaming consoles. Since the beginning of the Star Wars movie franchise in 1977, the games have gained popularity year after year and are now focusing on the Star Wars Expanded Universe. The latest creation of the Star Wars Universe is Star Wars: Battlefront. The video game has been developed by DICE which is owned by Electronic Arts (EA).

Gameplay

The game does not follow a storyline of its own. The game is a representation of the stories and battles which are a part of the original trilogy. It gives players the option to switch between first-person mode and third-person mode which is similar to the previous games in the series. The developers wanted to concentrate of making the game a multi-player game. The game features a set of co-op missions that players can play online, alone or with a split-screen.
You will have the option to play the game as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker which means you can choose between being a villain or hero. The largest game modes available in Star Wars: Battlefront are Walker Assault and Supremacy which allows up to 40 users to engage in a single game. The game is designed to be aesthetically pleasing with some spectacular back grounds and environments. The game has been getting a lot of attention and although the absence of single-player is being scrutinized, players look forward to the latest Star Wars game.
gaming photo
Image credit: “Madrid Games Week, Star Wars, Battlefront, jugadora, Madrid, España, 2015” by Benjamín Núñez González
There are six training missions. Out of them four are survival modes based on each planet and there are two battles as infantry or as a hero or a villain. You also have online play available with a two-player limit on PS4, X-Box One and PC. Players have to rely on chats for communication as there is no option for VOIP in the game. PC players can use a VOIP software to communicate.

The Good

The outstanding set-up in Battlefront is bound to create nostalgia as you find yourself transported to your childhood days. DICE has managed to achieve some great visuals and the audio quality of the game is spectacular. You will find yourself immersed in the beauty of the scenes and the authenticity of the experience with the perfect effects.

The minutiae of the details have been carefully worked on and Battlefront has been created to have a remarkable effect on its players. Modes which include smaller teams are likely to be found more interesting than the huge 40-player modes. The smaller player modes also offer a great place for players to start earning credits. DICE has included enough multiplayer modes to offer variety to the players. Some of the modes are going to promise some fun. The game is a lightweight shooter that focuses on pleasing the audience with its visuals.

The Bad

The structure of the game does not quite complement the breath taking audio visuals. With multiplayer mode being the focus, VOIP would have been considered helpful when teams are involved.
Players who enjoy single player campaign, would find Battlefront a little unwelcome. Star Wars: Battlefront seems to be created to please Star Wars fans rather than compete with other games. The absence of a story mode lacks substance. Gamers may not be able to connect themselves easily to the game without a story to immerse themselves. The quality of the battles are not very strong either.
The graphics of the heroes while they combat are poor. The difficult levels are interesting but they still do not capture the essence of the past games of the series. There is no feeling of a challenge and while you may start as an excited player, there is a possibility that you may find yourself sinking into boredom with the modes once the graphics stop entertaining you.

Conclusion

Star Wars: Battlefront is a game which is more of a Star Wars merchandise that will become a collectible for Star Wars fans rather than a game that gets the attention of players who enjoy playing hard core games. The availability of different game modes makes it interesting for players so that they can switch to different modes. The graphics are stunning and are the best part of the game. The game takes you through spectacular environments. What the game loses in story, it tries to make up for it through the audio visuals.
