Week #14 is in the books and fantasy football teams are looking forward to week #15. There is a lot to discuss this week so let’s jump right in to the action.
The Panthers are the only undefeated team in the NFL. Several teams that dominated the early part of the year are starting to show signs of weakness like the Packers, Broncos, and Bengals. Keep this is in mind when you are finalizing your roosters this week. It matters who is strong now, not who was strong.
Bye Week
No byes for the rest of the season. You are in the clear and can relax about starting a player on a bye week.
Mismatches
Jets vs. Cowboys, Chiefs vs. Ravens, Vikings vs. Bears, Patriots vs. Titans, Panthers vs. Giants, Seahawks vs. Browns, Bengals vs. 49ers, and the Cardinals vs. Eagles,
At this point in the season there is a lot of data available. Start your best players based on 14 games of data. Take a hard look at what teams are hot right now. The Seahawks, Cardinals, Panthers, and Steelers are all peaking at the right time.
Quarterbacks
Carr is ranked 5th this week going against the Packers. The Raiders are a team that can be good or can be horrible. Carr has scored 13 fantasy points in each of the last two games. I am not saying that you should not start him, just take a hard look at quarterbacks you have available.
Big Ben is ranked 11th in several polls this week. He is going against a stout Bronco’s defense that is the best in the league, however the Steelers are on the rise and Big Ben has a lot of weapons. Don’t hesitate to start him.
The rest of the quarterback rankings look pretty solid. Focus on how many points players have scored in the last three games.
Running Backs
Gurley should be ranked higher in the RB polls. He is a no brainer starter against the Bucs who are allowing 120.5 yards per game. He did sit out practices earlier in the week, but he should be ready to go this weekend.
Williams is part of the most productive fantasy backfield this season, but he is going against the strongest defense against the rush, the Broncos at 3.2 yards/rush. I am not saying to sit Williams, but look at who you have available. Passing will be the key weapon of the Steeler’s this week and I expect only mediocre points from Williams.
Tight Ends
Gronk’s knee injuries are behind him and will feast on the weak Eagle’s defense. A #1 ranking may be based more on his past production, but he will have a good weekend of fantasy point’s production.
Olsen is ranked #2 this week. He is listed as questionable so if you plan to start him delay finalizing your rooster as long as possible in case he gets listed as injured. He is going against a Giant’s defense that has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to TE’s so if he is healthy this could be a good points weekend for him.
Walker is ranked 4th this week in the polls. He has the most catches for TEs in the league, but it is not adding up to a lot of fantasy points. Take a hard look at who you have available. Walker is not an automatic start even though he is having the best season of his career at 31.
