The last piece of glitter has fallen to signify the end of yet another season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. And I’m sure we are all going to miss watching the best of the best Queen’s in the industry battle it out to become the next drag superstar.
However, just because the glamour ball has ended, doesn’t mean your life has to be a drag.
Here are a few saucy tips and tricks we can appropriate from the world of drag to turn their eleganza realness into your everyday reality.
1) FROM THE QUEENS: “Tuck that taint away”
And no, I’m not talking about leading the “elephant” to the “watering hole.”
Drag queens are highly skilled at accentuating their best features while hiding their flaws.
If God didn’t give it to you don’t accept his/her shonky work!
For the girls:
Feel your nose makes you look like a distant relative of the needle shark? Or that your face challenges the moon in roundness?
The secret antidote is contouring.
Any Drag Queen will tell you that there are three key contouring areas you need to correct and perfect: the jawline, your cheekbones and your nose.
The best tools for the job are a foundation in the closest shade to your natural color, followed by applying a darker shade to the key areas, then finishing with a highlighter.
Quick how to:
Once you have applied your foundation grab a foundation brush and draw a line in the darker shade right along your jaw line.
Next, feel the indent of your cheek bones and draw a line that starts from your hairline almost to your lip. You’ll then need to your temples and shade there as well. This creates definition.
To slim the nose apply a line of the darker foundation from the inside of your eyebrows that traces all the way down to your nostrils.
Follow this through with highlighter applied down the ridge of the nose, above your cupid’s bow and the highest point of your cheek bones.
Allow the foundation to “cook”, or settle, before blending in with a blending brush or sponge.
