Lets be honest here, the quarterback is the most important position on a football team. Since we were kids, we always had the most athletic and usually the tallest kid as QB on our playground team. So I figured I would do a list of the best situational QBs that have ever played the game of football.

Top Fantasy QB: Aaron Rodgers. The guy is fantasy football players dream. High completion percentage, low interceptions, can throw deep with accuracy, capable of 4 touchdowns and 350 yards a game. Basically if you are playing against him in fantasy football, you feel you could have a 50-50 chance of winning.

Runner UP: Randal Cunningham. They guy did it all, ran, passed, never got sacked, just chucked and ducked. He was the fantasy QB before fantasy really got popular.

Top Regular Season QB: Peyton Manning. Is there really any other QB during the regular season that did better, that each time you watched him play you were confident in his abilities to win a regular season game. (We are talking Colt Peyton and first year Denver Bronco Peyton, not that shell of a Peyton playing now).

Runner up: Brett Farve. I am personally not a fan of Brett Farve, but the guy won games. He wasn’t afraid to throw the game-winning touchdown or the game costing INT, he just threw it. I really thought Brett Farve could win every regular season game year in and year out.

Top Playoff QB: Tom Brady. Say what you want about, Tom Brady but the guy wins playoff games consistently. He can beat you in a shootout, he can win a close one, and he can blow you out. Every playoff game he played, I would never bet against him and on sheer principal.

Runner Up: John Elway. Another QB that I am just not a fan of and I even grew up in Colorado. Elway won playoff games with his arm, with his legs, with just plain will. I cheered so hard for him to lose every playoff game possible, and the guy just somehow won time in and time out. I am willing to bet that you will never see an Elway Jersey in Cleveland. I believe it is a state law and could get you 10 to 25 years jail time if ever caught wearing one there.

Super Bowl QB: Joe Montana. He was never the biggest, fastest, strongest arm, but there is no QB I would want leading my team in a Super Bowl. The guy just won the big game. He was calm and cool. He utilized what he had. He was accurate, efficient and handled the big stage better than anyone else. Montana will always be the best big game quarterback of all time.

Runner Up: Terry Bradshaw. I saw him more as a big game manager. Didn’t make mistakes and had a great defenses to bail him out even if he did. You still have to give him credit for going 4 and 0 in Super Bowls.

Fantasy Football Week #14

Week #13 is in the books and fantasy football teams are looking forward to week #14. There is a lot to discuss this week so let’s jump right in to the action.

Every team in the NFL has at least two losses except the Panthers who remain undefeated. It was amazing how quickly the Patriots fell out of grace. Hold on because the last few games of the season will create a roller coaster ride for fantasy football teams.

Bye Week

No byes for the rest of the season. You are in the clear and can relax about starting a player on a bye week.

Mismatches

Panthers vs. Falcons, Jets vs. Titans, Chiefs vs. Chargers, Broncos vs. Raiders, Packers vs. Cowboys, and Patriots, vs. Texans

At this point in the season there is a lot of data available. Start your best players based on 13 games of data.

Quarterbacks

This is the best week for ranking QB’s that I have seen this season. One glaring problem is Big Ben. After scoring 33 fantasy points last week does he really deserve to be ranked 14^th in most polls. I would place Big Ben in the top five at the very least. With three great receivers expect another great week even against a decent Bengals defense.

Running Backs

RB polls are a different story than QB polls. I agree Johnson should be in the top five, but ranked #1. He is a relatively unknown commodity and is going against a decent Vikings defense. Sure you should start him, but don’t think for a second he is secure #1 RB.

Rawls should do well this week against the Ravens. The Seahawks are finally starting to put an offense together. He did well last week against a stout Vikings defense and he should do well against a Ravens defense that is not as good as it has been in recent years.

Peterson just killed fantasy team owners last week. One point. OUCH! Only 8 attempts? What? Do the Vikings realize they have the best RB on their team? Sure they are playing catch up a lot and need to throw the rock, but give Peterson the ball. Trust me they will not make the same mistake this weekend.

Tight Ends

Eifert #2 against the Steelers this week? Hell NO! The Steeler’s defense held him to 39 yards in week #8. I personally would not start Eifert this week unless you have no other choice. He is returning from an injury and going against a decent defense that has his number.

Kelce #3? Again I don’t think so. Sure he is going against a Charger’s defense that is favorable to TEs making a lot of fantasy points, but Kelce is not producing decent points. Check your bench and waiver wire, because Kelce should not be started unless you have to.

Do you start Chandler or not? That is the question. The answer is no. He will probably start and Gronk will probably miss another week due to injury. However, don’t be tempted to start him because the Texans have done well against TEs this year. Look hard for another TE starter.

Wide Receivers

Hopkins is having an amazing season and is playing the porous Patriots secondary. However, if you dig deeper and really look at his fantasy point’s production he has not been that impressive. He has scored 17 points over the last two weeks. Is he an automatic start? No he is not. Look at who else you have on your roster or whom sitting on the waiver wire.

A-Hole Of The Week: Julius Peppers

Congratulations to our most recent A-Hole of the Week, Julius Peppers!

Most of our A-Holes of the Week kill somebody to earn this dubious title. After ISIS taking the Thrill Throne last week, we are going to lighten things up a bit by electing Julius Peppers as our A-Hole of the Week!

On November, 8^th during a game between the Packers and the Panthers Julius Peppers showed his true colors by stripping the ball out of Cam Newton’s hands after Cam scored a touchdown.

Most players have some kind of touchdown celebration prepared in advance to dazzle the crowd. Cam scans the crowd during the game looking for children, often disabled children.  After scoring Cam gives the football to a child.

Julious knows very well that that giving a child the touchdown ball is Cam’s thing. After Cam scored Julius stripped the ball out of Cam’s hands and threw it toward the sidelines. Cam recovered quickly by running after the ball and giving it to a child.

Reminds me a lot of grade school when a bully would kick or throw the ball we were playing with a mile in the wrong direction and we would get a chance to chase after it after a lot of cursing.

Now the media in all their glory made a big headline of the affair by stating that Peppers hates children. Great attention grabbing headline. We are not sure whether Peppers hates children or not, but the fact remains that he pulled a major A-Hole maneuver with his poor sportsmanship.

We are pretty sure someone from the Packers had a nice chat with Peppers about this incident.

Fantasy Football Week #11

Week #10 is in the books and fantasy football teams are looking forward to week #11. There is a lot to discuss this week so let’s jump right in to the action.

Bye Week

Teams with bye weeks are the Steelers, Browns, Saints, and Giants. This is the last week of byes. Don’t be the guy in your league that starts a player that is sitting home drinking beer on Sunday.

Mismatches

Panthers vs. Redskins, and Broncos vs. Bears, although the Broncos are starting to cool down.

There are a lot of even matches this week that could go either way. Make sure to look at individual players against the teams that they are facing. A team may have a strong defense, but have problems covering a TE. Your WR may be going against the best corner in the league. Be sure to look at individual matchups.

A good game from a fan standpoint will be the Bengals vs. Cardinals. Two strong teams will make for some exciting football.

Quarterbacks

How many teams put Big Ben on the bench last week? Smart play was to bench him. OUCH!

Palmer is coming off a strong week, however he faces a stout Bengals defense that has allowed the third fewest points per game. Ranked at #3? I am not so sure. Not saying you should not start him. Just saying this is a tough matchup for Palmer and you will really need to see whom else you have available.

Last week was tough for those that started Dalton. He had a season low points production. He is the most consistent quarterback in the NFL so a good assumption is that he will bounce back against the Cardinals.

Newton is an easy start, but this week should be a point’s explosion for him against a crappy Redskin’s defense.

Do you start Romo this week? Supposedly his collarbone is 100% healed and he is going against a crummy Dolphins defense that is weak against the pass. If your bummed about the 28 fantasy points he has produced this year it may be time for redemption. However, I have to scold you if you still have him. Dallas will not make the playoffs, so if your preparing your team for the final run you should have gotten rid of Romo a long time ago.

Running Backs

After scoring 27 points last week, Peterson missed some practice this week. Should you be scared that he has an unreported injury? I don’t think so and he is going against a Packer’s defense that has lately been giving up touchdowns.

Stewart against the Redskins is stab at mediocrity. Look for other options.

Lynch is ranked 5^th against a weak 49ers defense, but this seems like an optimistic ranking. Lynch is fighting an abdominal injury, hasn’t practiced much this week, and is a game time decision. A lot to risk, for not a lot of gain. Look to find better options for your fantasy team.

Fantasy Football Week #9

Bye Week

Teams with bye weeks are the Seahawks, Chiefs, Texans, Ravens, and Cardinals. Don’t be the guy in your league that starts a player that is sitting home drinking beer on Sunday.

Mismatches

Browns vs. Bengals, Patriots vs. Redskins, Falcons vs. 49ers, Broncos vs. Colts,
A very interesting game this week will be a clash between the Panthers vs. Packers. Both teams have good defenses. However, the Panthers have an edge on offense. This is two tough weeks in a row for the Packers coming off a loss from the Broncos. Take a hard look if you have players on either team.

Quarterbacks

Last week we did not liking how high Big Ben was ranked. We were right! However, against the Raiders, who have given up the sixth most fantasy points to quarterbacks, we love Ben.
Eli Manning will have a point’s explosion against the Bucs.
Peyton Manning should do well against a weak Colts defense. This may be his best game of the week after finally showing some life last weekend against a good Packer’s defense.
Luck is supposed to be fully healthy and has shown some spark over the last few weeks, but against the hot Broncos I would look else where for a starting quarterback.

Running Backs

Ivory has laid a major fantasy points egg over the last two weeks. However, this week is a good match up for him against the Jaguars who are allowing the ninth most fantasy points against running backs. Start him.
Blount will rock against the Redskins. No touchdowns for him in the last two weeks, but this is a great matchup.
Martin will do well against the Giant’s fantasy points sieve defense.
I wonder how many teams traded Williams after Bell came back and wished like hell they would have kept him? Start Williams because Big Ben is not 100% healthy and will need some help.
Sit Andrews, Lacey, Jones, Yeldon.

Tight Ends

Start Jenkins against the Giants defense that leads fantasy points against TEs.
Consider Miller. Big Ben is back and loves to throw to Miller. He is ranked a bit low this week in most polls.
Start Clay. He has already had a great week against his former team the Dolphins in week 3.
3^rd stringer Tamme is starting now due to injuries and should rack up the points against an awful 49ers defense.
Sit Davis, Watson, and Rudolph

Wide Receivers

Start Johnson against a weak Bear’s defense.
Expect a big week for LaFell. He is facing one of the worst pass defenses in the league.
AB is Big Ben’s favorite target. Expect big points for him this week. A lot of teams took AB first in the draft. Finally this investment should start paying off.
Sit Crowder, Woods, Jones, and Moncrief.

Defenses

The Broncos defense should do well against a weak Colt’s offense.
The Jet’s defense has a very favorable match up against an under performing Jaguar’s offense. Expect big points from a defense that just keeps churning out fantasy rewards.
The Patriot’s defense is ranked as high as #1 in some polls and as low as #7 in other polls. What does this mean? Nobody knows what is going to happen. If you start the Patriot’s defense keep your fingers crossed.   Take a hard look at your options.
We are starting into week #9 games. The playoff picture is starting to clear up. Start thinking about trading and picking up players on the waiver wire that will be in the playoffs. At this point it is obvious the Bengals, Broncos, Packers, and Panthers are going to be in the playoffs. Start making some trades for players on these teams.

Fantasy Football Week #8

Week #7 is in the books and fantasy football teams are looking forward to week #8. There is a lot to discuss this week so let’s jump right in to the action.

Bye Week

Teams with bye weeks are the Redskins, Eagles Jaguars, and Bills. Don’t be the guy in your league that starts a player that is sitting home drinking beer on Sunday.

Mismatches

Honestly this is a very tough week to make predictions. A lot of evenly matched teams are playing. In these games a lot of things could happen that are hard to predict. Week #8 should make for a very exciting weekend of fantasy football.

Patriots vs. Dolphins, Falcons vs. Buccaneers and Panthers vs. Colts are obvious mismatches. Maybe the Cardinals vs. Browns, and Vikings vs. Bears will be mismatches.

A very interesting game this week will be a clash between the undefeated titans Broncos vs. Packers. Both teams have good defenses. However, the Packers have an edge on offense. Take a hard look if you have players on either team.

Quarterbacks

Looking through quarterback predictions this week a few names really stand out. Don’t start Luck this week against the Panthers. Luck is going to have a tough game against a good Panther’s defense.

Rodgers is ranked 4th in the Yahoo predictions. Against a very good Bronco’s defense this may be a bit high. Take a hard look at your QB’s and who is on the waiver wire for a more favorable matchup. Rodgers could have a dip in production this week.

Big Ben is ranked 7th. That is a very favorable ranking considering that he may not even start and if he does start he will not be 100%. He has an amazing group of receivers and the Bengals have allowed some yards, but this is a real crapshoot. If you think Ben is your best choice at QB, wait as long as you can to lock him in for your team. Be sure to check his status the hour before you have to finalize your lineup.

Running Backs

Arian Foster is finally out. For several weeks he has been a game time decision and has made things very hard for teams that have him in their lineup.

This week’s RB predictions look pretty good. There are no glaring questionable predictions. What there are is questionable matchups that could lead to hard weeks for some RB’s and stellar weeks for other running backs. It’s going to be a roll of the dice.

Tight Ends
 
No surprises that Gronk and Eifert are predicted to be the best two tight ends this week. Gronk will have a huge game against the Dolphins and Eifert is facing a Steeler’s defense that has been horrible at stopping TE’s.

At this point Gates may be out for a MCL. This really sucks for teams that have really racked up the points with Gates over the last several weeks. If you drafted Gates and you have stuck with him it’s been a real roller coaster ride.

Olsen should have a tremendous week due to the fact the Panthers are limited with WRs and the Colts are 20th in the league defending against fantasy TEs.

Kelce is ranked 4th, however he has not had a TD in six weeks. The Lion’s defense has not been very good, but they are ranked 12th against fantasy TEs. Take a hard look at starting him.

Wide Receivers
 
Jones should have a better week than he has had in a few weeks. The Bucs have been horrible against fantasy WRs.

Hopkins is ranked #2 for WRs, which is very optimistic. He has been up and down and did not score that well last week. Not saying you should not start him, just saying if you see his #2 rank don’t think automatic start. Look at your resources.

AB is ranked #3. This is a dicey ranking. It is unconfirmed whether Big Ben will start or not. If you start AB you are really going to be rolling the dice. Take a hard at higher percentage WRs.

Defenses

The Ram’s defense was amazing last week racking up 25 fantasy points. This week they should do well again.

Once again Seattle is ranked #2. They were ranked #2 last week and scored 13 points. Against Dallas they should do well, but will they do well enough to be ranked #2?

The Cardinals defense has been very up and down. They totally got stuffed against the Steelers, but they should have a good week against the Browns.

The Jet’s defense has yielded 3 and 9 points over the last two weeks. They are ranked #5 going against Oakland. They should do well, but a #5 rank is very ambitious.

The Panther’s defense should have a huge week against the Colts. The Colts have not running game, have a found their passing game, but a good Panther’s defense should be able to hold the numbers down.

We are starting into week #8 games. The playoff picture is starting to look more and more clear. Start thinking about trading and picking up players on the waiver wire that will be in the playoffs. Good luck this week and kicks some ass!
