A spate of bomb assaults by radical group in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria, and a cumbersome crackdown by the military, has provoked a large number of individuals to escape their homes.

Boko Haram advances a variant of Islam that makes it “haram”, or prohibited, for Muslims to participate in any political or social action connected with Western culture. This incorporates voting in races, wearing shirts and trousers or accepting a mainstream education. Boko Haram sees the Nigerian state as being controlled by non-devotees, notwithstanding, when the nation had a Muslim president – and it has broadened its military battle by focusing on neighboring states.

Since January 2010, surviving faction individuals have allegedly been behind the bomb and shoot-and-run assaults, which have slaughtered many individuals not simply in Maiduguri: An Abuja police HQ was shelled on 16 June. The group is difficult to screen. A representative for Boko Haram told correspondents in June that individuals had gotten their training in Somalia, a feature that could demonstrate Boko Haram has a connection with the worldwide terror networks. Different reports have proposed the same thing, saying Boko Haram as of now has connections to universal terrorist associations, for example, Al-Qaeda, and can possibly interface with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), which works in adjacent areas.

Seeds of terror

Boko Haram went underground for over a year after the uprising, however re-rose in 2010. Yusuf’s representative, Abubakar Shekau, the current leader, who police asserted had been murdered in the 2009 uprising, started to show up in recordings as the group’s new pioneer. Assaults progressively developed all the more fatal and refined, especially with the utilization of explosives. A suicide assailant smashed an auto bomb into UN base camp in the capital Abuja in August 2011.

Focusing on school kids

In 2013, Boko Haram focused on students in a progression of horrendous school assaults in the upper east that executed many young men. Later there were reports that the group was likewise abducting young girls and women with the expectation of assaulting them or making them spouses. In April 2014, aggressors attacked Chibok somewhere down in northeastern Nigeria and seized 276 school young women, for the most part somewhere around 16 and 18 years of age. 219 stay missing. Shekau asserted credit for the kidnappings in a video.

Boko Haram’s trademark was initially the utilization of shooters on motorbikes, slaughtering police, government officials and any individual who condemned it, including ministers from other Muslim conventions and Christian evangelists. The group additionally organizes more assaults in northern and focal Nigeria, including shelling houses of worship, transport positions, bars, and military garrison even the police and UN central station in the capital, Abuja.
In the midst of developing fear about the heightening viciousness, President Goodluck Jonathan pronounced a highly sensitive situation in May 2013 in the three northern states where Boko Haram was mostly grounded – Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. It draws its warriors, mostly from the Kanuri ethnic group, which is the biggest in the three states. Most Kanuris have particular facial scars and when added to their overwhelming Hausa pronunciations, they are effectively identifiable to others Nigeria.

Accordingly, the aggressors work for the most part in the northeast, where the landscape is likewise commonplace to most members of the entire network.
The settling of troops and the development of vigilante groups drove huge numbers of them out of Maiduguri, their primary urban base and they withdrew to the tremendous Sambisa timberland toward the south and the Mandara Mountains, near the outskirt with Cameroon. From that point, the group’s contenders dispatched mass assaults on towns and towns, plundering, slaughtering, stealing, raping both women and kids and recruiting men and young men into their armed force.

People injured by Boko Haram
At the point when assaults by Boko Haram expanded for this present year, President Jonathan at first guaranteed individuals the circumstance was under control, contrasting it with savagery in the Niger Delta that was in part enhanced through consequent military planning and a reprieve program. Borno State representative Kashim Shettima has supposedly welcomed Boko Haram to participate in a dialog, focusing on the administration was prepared to address their requests.
What is more, the group exchanged strategies, regularly clutching a region instead of withdrawing after an assault. The danger Boko Haram will vanish if Nigeria’s administration figures out how to diminish the area’s constant destitution and fabricate a training framework that picks up the support of neighborhood Muslims. It is maybe best to think about today’s Boko Haram as an umbrella-like structure, with genuine association. Cells may undertake violent assaults for their own particular reasons, enrolling infantry as required from a multitude of young fellows who are defenseless to fanatic philosophy and plan to benefit monetarily.
Boko Haram has financed itself for the most part through payment kidnappings, bank thefts and other illicit exercises. The group is accepting to have struck no less than one Nigerian military arms warehouse. Unlawful arms are trafficked in West Africa and likely not troublesome for Boko Haram to obtain. There have been allegations of political sponsorship, yet little confirmation has been advertised. Right now, the rebellion has developed into a numerous headed beast, outside the control of the government. The extremists’ requests have changed, yet they regularly concentrate on two principle territories: the arrival of Boko Haram detainees and the formation of an Islamic state. While Shekau has sworn solidarity with jihadists universally, Boko Haram’s demands have to a great extent stayed locally and the rebellion has been sustained on poverty, misery and unemployment in northern Nigeria.

President Obama’s Stance with ISIS

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

President Obama’s strategy for dealing with ISIS is in question now more than ever. With a week- long itinerary which included the G-20 summit in Turkey to meeting the Asia-Pacific leaders. President Obama’s trip was dominated by the Paris attacks, conflicts raging in Middle East and political warfare in Washington.
Obama is facing criticism from the Republicans on the administration’s decision to accept 10,000 refugees from Syria. At the same time, French president François Hollande finds Obama’s response to the Paris attacks to be substantially weaker than what he had expected. Hollande is looking for global support to fight the terrorist group and will arrive in Washington to discuss the efforts of Obama in fighting the ISIS.
The United Nations Security Council has asked all the member states to take all necessary measures to defeat the ISIS which is “a global and unprecedented threat to international peace and security” according to the United Nations.
Obama exhibited sorrow at the thought of deploying US troops to the Middle East war because terrorism is not only limited to the Middle Eastern countries. The Paris attacks prove that terrorists can attack any city or country creating a state of panic throughout the globe.
The Pentagon had released a report which detailed the latest deaths of Iraqi civilians in the many airstrikes conducted by it against the ISIS. While it is being demanded that air strikes should increase and US Special Forces should be deployed against the ISIS, the report showed that an American airstrike killed a car full of women and children who were escaping the city and were held up at an ISIS checkpoint. The delay was considered suspicious and the car was targeted by the American A-10 pilot. The scope of error and the possibilities of killing civilians make many attacks difficult to accomplish.

The government may face continuous pressure to target the ISIS faster and accomplish more results, but with the possibilities of hostage situations and other risks accompanying a ground attack, the administration is still considering its options.
Obama warns that the leaders should not react to the Paris attacks in a way that shows heightened fear because that is exactly what the terrorists are aiming for. Instead, he urges leaders to show stoicism and not to play into the hands of the terrorists by showing fear.
In his speech in Turkey, Obama mentions that the ultimate goal of USA is to degrade and destroy ISIS which is a barbaric terrorist organization. So far, Obama’s attempt is to convey a balance by being aggressive to the terrorist attacks but at the same time being compassionate about the refugee crisis. Skeptics found Obama’s decision to accept refugees as a security threat to the country.
political photo
The administration has been able to bring forward the many successes that have been achieved since the US led coalition began its campaign against ISIS. However these achievements seem to have been overshadowed by the Paris attacks. Americans fear a repeat of the attacks on their own soil. Doubtful citizens are of the opinion that President Obama may not have clear plans for defeating the militant group.
Most of the Americans are also of the opinion that ground troops should be deployed to contain the ISIS threats before they target USA. Even the acceptance of Syrian refugees is being met by criticism. Obama hopes to ignite compassion among the people of USA in order to accept the refugees. Undoubtedly, everyone is asking for stricter screening process before accepting the refugees so that threats can be minimized.
Many people find his stance against the ISIS after the Paris attack to be weaker than what was required. With the political conflicts raging in Washington, he has to build a stronger character. President Obama has swayed the crowds with his remarkable speeches. However his most recent thoughts on dealing with the ISIS have been perceived to be ambiguous.
President Obama had mentioned that the threat from ISIS had been largely contained. This was said just hours before the attack in Paris. There are no easy answers to the threat posed by ISIS and America has to emerge as a strong nation that can battle these threats without stepping back. Across the President’s two terms, he has been able to create a big difference when it comes to terrorism and the people of USA are looking for the same approach to combat the ISIS threats. While Obama is being defensive in his speeches, this is a time to give the nation a surge of energy through a speech that shows the power of USA.

Benghazi – The Political Anarchy Caused By Terrorism

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

About the Benghazi Attack

The Benghazi attack is one of the most consequential attacks led by Islamic militants. It happened on the evening of September 11, 2012 at the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. U.S. Ambassador, J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information management Officer, Sean Smith were killed in the vehement attack which resulted in immediate increase in security at diplomatic and military facilities throughout the world by the United States.
The attack was followed by a second attack several hours later at a different compound which is located a mile away from the first. The second attack killed CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. The assault also injured 10 others.

Most of the Libyan population condemned the attacks and held demonstrations to protest against the militias who were suspected of the attacks. As the secretary of State, Hillary Clinton took responsibility for the security lapses which were a reason behind the attack. The state department officials were criticized because requests for increasing the security at the consulate before the attacks were denied.
The attacks were suspected to be triggered by an anti-Muslim video – Innocence of Muslims – which has led to spontaneous protests. However, investigations determined that there was no evidence of any protest of the kind, and the attacks were planned.

Aftermath

Libyan Response

Mustafa Abushagur’s (Libyan Prime Minister) office condemned the outrageous attacks and offered condolences. Demonstrations on Benghazi and Tripoli on September 12 showed that people were against such assaults. The overall Libyan response was that they were against terrorism and Libyans were positively inclined towards their relationship with the United States.

Libyan President, Mohammed Magariaf stated that the attack was pre-calculated and was carried out specifically to attack the U.S. consulate.

Anti-militia demonstrations and subsequent actions taken by the government

On September 21, approximately thirty thousands (30,000) Libyans marched all the way through Benghazi asking for the government to bring a conclusion to the armed militias that were formed during the Libyan Civil War in order to oppose Colonel Gaddafi. The war ended but the armed militias continued to survive.
Many militia members were forced to leave the militia headquarters when the demonstrators stormed into a number of militia headquarters.
The government took advantage of the rising anger of the Libyans and on September 23, the Libyan President announced that the militias had 48 hours to disband. The success of the protests showed on September 29, when hundreds of Libyans handed over their arms in the city centers of Benghazi and Tripoli. The campaigns were less successful in other regions of Libya.

U.S. Government Response

On September 12, President Barack Obama condemned the attacks and claimed these attacks to be outrageous. He claimed that acts of terror could not shake the nation and justice will be done. He ensured that security was increased at all such facilities worldwide. The FBI set to investigate the possibility of the attack being a planned one. On September 14 the remains of those who lost their lives were returned to the United States.

How the United States messed up?

Top U.S. commanders testified that the military were not prepared for attacks in Africa and the Middle East. The U.S. did not place any attack aircrafts of high alert, especially because September 11 commemorated the 9/11 attacks. The closest fighter planes to handle trouble in North Africa were located in Aviano, Italy.
President Obama and Hillary Clinton were suspected to have lied about the attacks in order to use the attack to gain political advantage. The attacks were claimed to be spontaneous protests caused because of the video. However, investigations show that the attacks were pre-meditated and increased security at the sites could have averted the attacks.
