Imagine being a woman in a male-dominated industry, recently ranked #1 in Women’s MMA, and have a record of 12-1 . That my friends is Ronda Rousey. Also known as ‘Rowdy’ by her close family and friends. Plus, she’s only 29 years old! Makes you really question what you’re doing with your life. Not only does Rousey have an impeccable history in mixed martial arts, she’s currently ranked #2 behind Holly Holm, who dealt Ronda her only loss. Rousey has broken barriers in her fighting career for being the highest paid UFC fighter.

The Early Years of Rousey: Where it All Began

Rousey’s childhood was anything but easy breezy. She endured quite a bit dealing with her speech problems and her father’s suicide. At the time of her birth, Ronda was born with an umbilical cord wrapped around her neck leading to a lack of oxygen and slight brain damage. This eventually led to her difficult forming words and speaking until the age of 6. By the time Ronda turned 8, another tragedy stuck.
Ronda’s father committed suicide after learning he only had a few years left to live. As little Ronda grew up, she was homeschooled for most of her childhood. Ronda was not fond of school which led to great frustration. This frustration, her mother believed, could be well channeled into something good. Ronda then decided to learn judo. Since her mother was already a gold medal winning judoka in 1984, she began to show Ronda the ropes of judo, drilling her with knowledge and trivia. Her mother was really a tough cookie. Ronda’s mother worked hard to instill a level of toughness in her daughter.
Ronda frequently discusses how hard her mother pushed her into becoming who she is today by quoting, “I was 11 years old and I broke my big toe doing judo,” Rousey said, “To an 11-year-old this is a very big deal, so I stopped fighting and started to cry.
My mother then made me run laps around the mat for the rest for the night. I thought she was just being cruel at the time, but she told me, “Sometimes you have to fight when you’re injured. You need to know you’re capable of that.”

The Journey Continues (Rousey Kicks Serious Ass)

Rousey was named to the United States Olympic team at age 15, and at 16 she became the youngest American to earn the national No. 1 ranking in the women’s half-middleweight division. Although she didn’t earn a medal at the 2004 Olympics, she claimed gold at that year’s World Junior and Pan American Judo Championships.
After defending her Pan American Judo Championship title in 2006, Rousey became the first American woman in 12 years to earn a World Championship medal by finishing second in the 2007 tournament. She then won gold at the 2007 Pan American Games, despite a torn knee meniscus. After earning the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics, she retired from judo at age 21.
After retiring, Ronda was left confused as to what to do next. Ronda began working as a bartender and even lived in her car for some time. Can you imagine Ronda Rousey living in a car? Neither can we. In 2010, Rousey joined the Glendale Fighting Club, making her debut in martial arts. This is where it really began. By 2012, Rousey was named Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion beating her opponent in a mere 4 minutes and 27 seconds!
At this point in her career, Rousey began famously for her trash-talking of her opponents and her good looks. She started appearing in magazines, talk shows, and the works. By 2013, Rousey appeared in Maxim and announced her plans to take her career in a new direction: acting! Rousey then appeared in Furious 7, Entourage, and The Expendables 3.

Fighter, model, actress… Author?

Ronda later came out with an autobiography in 2015 titled, “My Fight/Your Fight.” She went into detail about how the fame wasn’t all it looks to be. It’s not at all glitz and glamor, saying she struggled with a pot and Vicodin addiction paired with heavy drinking. Ronda is the perfect example for rags to riches story with a twist in addiction. Ronda refuses to discuss her father in the book or in any interview saying she does not want to repeat it because she’ll get too detached from the event.

Success Story

When Ronda first started fighting, she earned 400 dollars per fight. Now she earns up to 1 million dollars on a pay-per-view event! Ronda Rousey has shown all of us that if you work hard enough, anything is possible. Can she regain her #1 ranking? With Ronda’s work ethic and determination don’t bet against her.

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

Biography

Conor McGregor was born in Dublin, Ireland in July 14, 1988. Initially working as a plumber, McGregor was inspired to take a new path when he attended UFC 93 in 2009. It is where he started dreaming of becoming a UFC champion. To pursue this dream, he started training for boxing under Phil Sutcliffe. His early apprenticeship years was followed with a Jujitsu training under the supervision of John Kavanagh. This further honed the potential of McGregor and made him a step closer to his dream.

Martial Arts Background

With boxing and Jujitsu as his basic martial arts trainings, Conor furthered his quest for an Ultimate Fighting Championship belt by immersing himself to other martial arts disciplines. Prior to competing in professional Mixed Martial Arts, he also trained hard in Karate, Capoeira, Taekwondo and Kick Boxing. These trainings were not easy for him, but this tough guy driven with ambition and motivation worked very hard to pursue his UFC dream.

Early Professional Career

March 9, 2008 marked the start of McGregor’s professional career when he defeated Garry Morris at the Cage of Truth 2. It only took him two rounds to knockout his opponent and score his first ever win – a very convincing win. The year 2011 was the start of McGregor’s golden years, he scored an amazing 13 games winning streak, 11 of which are via knockouts and technical knockouts. What impressed the audience more is the fact that 9 out of his 11 knockouts happened in the first round. During the same time, he was able to make history by ending a fight at Immortal Fighting Championship in Letterkenny, Ireland 4 seconds after the bell was rung. This is one of the fastest knockouts in MMA history.
In 2012, McGregor captured the interest of UFC when he grabbed the titles of CWFC Featherweight and Lightweight Championships. This incredible performance gave him the distinction of being the first ever professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Ireland to hold three division championships at the same time. These winning streak made him rise in ranking and earn him the respect and attention of the UFC. In February 2013, McGregor’s dreams are slowly becoming a reality when UFC had signed him for a multiple fight contract.

Ultimate Fighting Championship Career

McGregor’s UFC career debuted with an undercard match during the UFC on Fuel TV: Mousasi vs. Latifi where he faced Marcus Brimage. He won via an impressive first round knockout and earned his first ever Knockout of the Night award.
Not everything is coming in favor of McGregor’s way. In August 17, 2013. He suffered a torn ACL injury when he fought against Max Holloway, a replacement to his initial foe Andy Ogle who pulled out of the match due to injury. McGregor won the fight via unanimous decision but was advised to stay out of the octagon for ten months for recuperation. McGregor went back into action in July of 2014 where he fought against Cole Miller. Again, the notorious McGregor proved that he is definitely back by winning a TKO in the very first round. This earned McGregor his first Performance of the Night bonus award.

UFC Fighter Jose Aldo: Will He Beat McGregor?

http://thethrillsociety.com is your link to Thrilling Stuff! This article is just a taste!

In all contexts, Jose Aldo is a unique fighter. This statement is not with respect to his training regime, work ethic of the quality of his trainers. Rather, his uniqueness are sourced from his sheer talent. Aldo’s approach to his fights best exemplifies his talent in the ring. His success thus far has been attributed to his talent in the ring. Jose Aldo is married to Vivianne Perreira. In her own right, Aldo’s wife is jiu-jitus champion. He has a daughter who was born in the year 2012. Aside from being a talented fighter, Jose Aldo is also a talented footballer.

Personal life

Aldo was born in the year 1986 in the city of Manaus located in Brazil. His upbringing was nowhere near privileged. As a matter of fact, he lived in conditions of abject poverty. When a teenager, he moved out of his mother’s house and headed to the coastal region of Brazil. While living in Brazilian coast, he developed a passion of Jitsu. He has come a long way from sleeping in the very mats that he trained to fight.

Training

While much of Aldo’s success has been attributed to his talent, much has to be said of the role played by his training team. His training manager is Nova Uniao. He trains at the Black house. With regard to his fighting class, he currently fights as a featherweight fighter.

Early career

Jose Aldo’s start in his fighting career is nothing short of glorious. In his very first fight, he was able to defeat his opponent, Mario Bigola, within 18 seconds of the fight. He defeated Mario via KO. This success was repeated for another six fights. However, in eight fights, he lost to Luciana Azevedo.

UFC

Before the UFC adopted the WEC, Aldo had a record of 8-0 wins. He had fought against some well-established fighters. However, he was able to gain a foot in his fights given his fighting style coupled with his talent. Once the WEC was adopted by the UFC, the management team declared Aldo as the UFC champion for his weight class.

Fighting style

Aldo’s fighting style is a compilation of the various different approaches. His style is influenced by his rich Brazilian heritage. His expertise in Jitsu has featured prominently in his approach to fighting in the ring. The Brazilian Jitsu has been touted as being an effective fighting style, especially given the nature of the UFC fights. Aside from the Jitsu, Aldo also employs the Muay Thai to add some unique aspect to his fighting style. However, both of these styles have proven effective in developing and guiding his striking style. Aldo’s expertise in the ring is attested by the actuality that he is able to strike using both his fists and legs simultaneously or in quick succession. His athleticism plays an instrumental role in making him the highest quality fighter that has become in recent times. Aldo has become associated with a sense of explosiveness that is lethal to his opponents. When his athleticism is coupled with his fighting style and this explosiveness, it becomes apparent that Aldo has the capacity to become the greatest featherweight fighter who has ever graced the UFC. Regard has also to be given to his defensive skills. His takedown defense has proven instrumental in his success in the ring. In the most adverse of situations, Aldo’s superior quality as fighter comes to being. He is able to demonstrate that he can be able to maintain a calm head even in the most dire situations.
